Jesus Impersonator STOMPS Police Car During March Riot

Five arrests and two injured police officers marked the end of San Francisco’s annual Trans March on June 26, 2026, after what began as a peaceful Pride Weekend kickoff devolved into violent clashes between law enforcement and participants in the city’s Tenderloin district.

Vandalism Sparks Confrontation

The confrontation began around 7 PM when San Francisco Police Department officers monitoring the march observed individuals vandalizing property with spray paint at Market and 8th Streets. According to the official police statement, one suspect assaulted another person and sprayed paint on them during the vandalism. Officers moved to detain the suspects as the crimes unfolded in real time.

When police attempted arrests at Turk and Taylor Streets, other marchers surrounded officers and physically obstructed them in an effort to free the vandalism suspects. Eyewitnesses reported that officers dragged suspects to the ground, prompting more protesters to intervene. Police responded with force to control the escalating situation.

Dramatic Scene Unfolds on Video

Video footage captured by Mission Local shows the chaos that erupted. One officer shoved a person to the ground during the melee. In a particularly striking moment, a march participant dressed as Jesus climbed onto a police patrol car and stomped on the vehicle before officers physically pulled him down. Other officers formed lines to keep the growing crowd at bay as tensions mounted.

The department arrested three adults for assault and vandalism, plus two additional adults for obstructing the police investigation. Two officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries from assaults during the incident and received medical treatment after providing crowd control support. Police have not released suspect identities or specific charges due to the ongoing investigation.

Pride Weekend Begins With Controversy

Thousands participated in the Trans March, which traditionally kicks off San Francisco’s Pride Weekend celebrations. The route began at Dolores Park, proceeded down Market Street, and concluded at Turk and Taylor Streets where the confrontation occurred. The incident raises questions about crowd management and law enforcement tactics during large public demonstrations in San Francisco, a city known for its progressive activism and frequent protests. The clash marks a troubled start to what organizers intended as a celebration of transgender rights and visibility during one of the city’s most prominent annual events.
