A Palm Beach County judge issued an extended restraining order protecting 19-year-old Kai Trump, President Donald Trump’s eldest grandchild, from a 26-year-old man who reportedly lives in his car and has been harassing the teenager. The order remains in effect until May 2027.
Court Orders Comprehensive Protection
Gabriel Garza Jr., who reportedly lives in a vehicle in the Jupiter and Palm Beach County area, must stay at least 500 feet away from Kai Trump’s residence and workplace. The court order also prohibits him from attending any events where the president’s granddaughter is present. Additionally, Garza must surrender any firearms he owns. The teenager, daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife Vanessa Trump, successfully petitioned to move her court hearing so it would not conflict with her final day of high school.
The restraining order extends to Kai’s future location at the University of Miami, where she announced she will begin studying this fall. A temporary order was initially granted in April, barring Garza from stalking, cyberstalking, or committing any criminal offense that could result in physical injury or death to Trump.
Second Stalking Incident in Two Years
This marks the second time Kai Trump has faced threats from an alleged stalker. In June 2024, authorities arrested 23-year-old Anthony Reyes after he scaled the perimeter fence at Mar-a-Lago just after midnight, triggering security alarms. U.S. Secret Service personnel detained him immediately at the scene without incident. According to the arrest report, Reyes told police officers he wanted to spread religious messages to the president and marry his granddaughter. Palm Beach police charged him with occupied trespassing and set his bond at $50,000. He entered a not guilty plea and received orders prohibiting contact with any Trump family members.
Rising Public Profile Brings Security Concerns
Kai Trump has built a significant following as a social media influencer, sharing content about golf, a passion she inherited from her grandfather. She entered the political spotlight at the 2024 Republican National Convention, where she spoke about her relationship with the president. As her public profile continues to grow with college approaching, security considerations remain paramount for the Trump family’s youngest generation. The extended protection order demonstrates the ongoing challenges faced by prominent political families in maintaining safety for their younger members who choose to maintain public personas through social media and other platforms.
