Women’s Locker Room INCIDENT Raises Questions

A Washington mother encountered an adult biological male showering in a women’s locker room during a children’s swim meet at a Seattle-area recreation center, reigniting concerns about policies that grant unrestricted access to sex-segregated facilities based solely on gender identity.

Incident at Children’s Swim Event

Maria Varchetto was attending her daughter’s swim meet at Lynnwood Recreation Center on July 12 when she entered the women’s locker room. While walking toward the restrooms, she observed what she described as an adult male’s exposed genitals visible through gaps in a shower curtain. The facility’s shower stalls feature curtains that are too narrow for the openings, leaving sight lines from the walkway where children and families pass regularly.

Varchetto initially continued to the restroom, uncertain how to respond. Upon exiting and seeing a mother with her young daughter washing hands nearby, she decided to speak up. She approached the shower area and said directly to the individual: “Excuse me, this is the women’s locker room.” The person did not respond to her statement.

Recreation Center Response

After Varchetto reported the incident, a facility manager approached the individual and asked if they were confused about which locker room they had entered. The person responded only by stating, “I’m trans.” The manager then departed without taking further action. Nathan MacDonald, manager of communications for the City of Lynnwood, confirmed staff received a complaint about a self-identifying transgender woman using a shower stall in the women’s locker room and conferred with both parties involved.

Safety Concerns for Families

Varchetto expressed that her family regularly uses the Lynnwood Recreation Center but the experience has fundamentally changed how she approaches her daughter’s safety. She no longer allows her daughter to use the women’s locker room unsupervised. Instead, she directs her to use family locker rooms when she cannot accompany her. Her daughter reportedly feels guilty using these facilities because only a handful exist, and families with small children often wait to access them. The incident raises questions about balancing competing rights and safety expectations in public spaces where children change and shower.

  1. Thank god he was not in my granddaughters locker room shower. He sure would not be mistaken about his identity after that day. Nor use the ladies locker room again.

    • I would have gone crazy!! He/She would know the wrath of my anger!! This cannot go unaddressed. Mom’s and Dad’s need to take a stand. If it goes unaddressed, something is going to happen. Everyone can’t wait until it something bad happens to a child. The trans should use a family bathroom, not go to a female bathroom with children. All someone has to do is say they’re trans, and everybody ignores the safety issue!! This has gotta stop!@

  2. Male using a female locker room and/or shower, when asked why and answers transgender, should be granted their wish and caststrate right on the spot.

  3. Unless your parts are removed you should not be allowed to claim to be trans. Every pervert now thinks that they can use that as excuse, and I don’t believe that they are actually trans, just perverts.

    • I know it would seem like punishment to the girls, but if that keeps happening, parents should pull their girls out of sports. The school would have no team to compete with. Maybe that would wake their a$$e$ up???

  4. Even having their male parts removed does not make them a woman. They are perverts trying to take advantage of the system that is telling us normal people to be kind, understanding and accepting of them. BS…they have no place in society! Send their asses to Mars!!!

  5. All of the states that insist on letting biological males use girl/women’s bathrooms need to put in bathrooms for transgender people…no straight people allowed. That way they can decide if they want to stand or sit when they go and not intrude on children or adult females! A transgender should never, never ever be allowed to use a girls locker room for any reason!

  6. We are either a Nation of Laws, or we are NOT! If we are the Former we need to judiciously enforce those laws and in this case where a “Trans” is showering in a “Girls” locker room…he needed to be detained and arrested. One’s “Fantasy” should NOT BE forced on others!! If Management can’t do the Job, replace them!

  7. Seems to me that if these folks want pronouns “it” should work out for them just fine! We could always remove male appendages, thereby rendering them “it”s and attach them to females, rendering them “it”s, as well, eh?

  8. I’d have called the police and raised a stink when I saw a transgender showering with all the females. He/she should’ve used the family shower and showered all by itself. Guys who keep their junk and call themselves transgender should wait till getting their junk removed before using the female only areas.

  9. Not on my watch or any of my brothers or nephews. He would have been made to understand the way it should be if he did not leave now

  10. It seems that the deviants now are in control. This is not the first case of males using these silly excuses are able to enter what has always ben a woman’s territory. If a male calls himself a non male and enters my granddaughters locker room. som of us “narrow minded” mn will see to it he has nothing to display. How did the laws get assed to allow perverts to cross sexual barriers

  11. Leave it to the Democrats. They will ruin everything they possibly can and call it advancing the country and being progressive. I don’t care if he/her is trans or not, if they have male genitals they belong in the mens locker room.
