Husband BUSTED After BLOODY HOME INVASION Story Unravels

A Washington state father who claimed a mysterious home invader murdered his wife now faces charges himself after investigators uncovered evidence contradicting his account of the deadly morning attack.

The 911 Call That Sparked Investigation

Kyle Wayland Cathcart, 41, called emergency services on May 1 reporting that an intruder had stabbed his wife, Jodi Ann Cathcart, 36, to death in their Covington home while their children slept. The father told first responders he had been in the shower around 6:15 in the morning when he heard his wife screaming for help. Covered in blood when police arrived, Cathcart recounted fighting off the alleged attacker who had already fatally wounded Jodi. Officers discovered the young mother in a pool of blood in the couple’s bedroom.

Investigation Reveals Inconsistencies

Detectives with the King County Sheriff’s Office began finding serious problems with Cathcart’s version of events during their investigation. Physical evidence at the scene did not support the home invasion scenario the husband described. Forensic analysis and witness statements raised immediate red flags about his account of an unknown assailant entering the residence and attacking his wife. The investigation took what authorities described as a dark turn as evidence mounted against the husband rather than supporting his claims of protecting his family from an intruder.

Charges Filed Against Husband

Prosecutors charged Kyle Cathcart with murder following the multi-day investigation. The case represents another domestic violence tragedy in which an initial report of a random crime concealed what investigators believe was a targeted attack within the home. Jodi Ann Cathcart leaves behind children who witnessed the aftermath of the violence that claimed their mother’s life. The King County Sheriff’s Office credited thorough crime scene processing and detective work with uncovering the truth behind the young mother’s death. Cathcart remains in custody awaiting trial on the murder charge.

  1. This happens a lot so hopefully there will be JUSTICE in this case…Usually (not 100% of the time), but usually it is the spouse that commits these crimes… And they do this for various reasons… Some over children, some over money, some over a lack of motivation and the earning of money to pay the bills, some over infidelity/affairs of either partner/wife/husband… Many things even just mental illness can mess things up…
We really NEVER know who we marry or even live with and sometimes being careful doesn’t solve the issues…
At least he is locked up and hopefully he will be found guilty if he is guilty… I hope the children have family to support them and help them with the loss of their mother… That is a shame…

  2. What is important at this point is the kids be in a loving surrounding with people that know how to deal with kids that witness the scene that they did. Hopefully thry can mov in with a lovingrelative and also receive professional help. Trauma like this at a young age will haunt their lives (I know from experience)
