A Tennessee driver accused of killing a father and critically injuring his wife and young daughter in a head-on collision stuck out his tongue while being booked into jail months after the deadly crash. The disturbing mugshot came as authorities finally arrested him on vehicular homicide charges.
The Deadly November Collision
In November 2025, the suspect was driving southbound on Bobel Lane when he attempted to pass a vehicle making a right turn. He swerved into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with a family’s vehicle. The father, a Smithville resident, was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. His wife Ashley and their daughter Dakota survived but suffered devastating injuries requiring months of recovery and multiple surgeries.

Ashley sustained an open ankle fracture, broken kneecap, and severe lacerations. Dakota suffered multiple fractured ribs, a broken collarbone, fractured sternum, and a small skull fracture. Ashley recalled the horrific moment in vivid detail, describing how she watched her husband fly forward and her daughter’s body contort around the seatbelt. The vehicle caught fire immediately after impact while her husband remained unresponsive and their daughter screamed from the back seat.
Delayed Arrest Raises Questions
The suspect was hospitalized following the crash but was not immediately charged. He remained at large for months before authorities finally arrested him on outstanding warrants for vehicular homicide by reckless conduct, reckless endangerment, and three counts of aggravated assault. Officials have not explained the delay between the November collision and his eventual arrest.
