Surveillance footage captured the moment a masked criminal went up in flames while attempting to burn down a Michigan cannabis dispensary after a botched robbery early Sunday morning.

Burglary Turns to Arson Attempt

A stolen Jeep Cherokee crashed through the entrance of Pure Cannabis Outlet in Monroe, Michigan, approximately 40 miles southwest of Detroit, just after 1 a.m. on Sunday. Two masked burglars exited the vehicle and rushed to the back room to steal product before pouring gasoline over the store counters. The fire ignited immediately, engulfing at least one suspect in flames as the pair fled through the parking lot, still burning. Owner Mike Bahoura told local media the incident represented amateur hour for the criminals who went up in smoke.

Store Reopens Same Day

The dispensary’s built-in sprinkler system extinguished the fire quickly, allowing Bahoura to reopen later that same day. The owner stated he initially expected a simple smash and grab for free product, never imagining anyone would escalate to this level. He expressed concern the attack felt targeted rather than random. His primary worry centered on employees who could have suffered if the business faced an extended closure. Insurance will cover the damages, though the exact value of stolen product remains undisclosed.

Investigation and Reward Offered

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the Jeep used in the raid was stolen from Detroit and abandoned at the scene. No arrests have been made in the case. Bahoura has posted a $25,000 reward for information leading to a conviction, expressing confidence authorities will identify the suspects. The store has turned the incident into a marketing opportunity, posting parody videos on social media and purchasing gas cans to use as tip jars for staff. Store floor manager Briana Pittman said the team decided to have fun with the unexpected publicity from the failed arson attempt.
