Popular Country Music Singer Dies at 35

Nicole Taylor, one-third of the country music trio Taylor Red, died Monday after a four-year battle with breast cancer, her sisters and bandmates announced on social media.

A Family’s Loss

Nika Taylor and Natalie Taylor shared the news of their sister’s passing on Monday, expressing both grief and relief. “We are shocked and heartbroken to announce the passing of our sister,” the surviving triplets wrote. “She’s at peace and no longer suffering, so we’re thankful for that.” The identical triplets from Mississippi had performed together since 2010, building their musical career as a family unit that eventually captured national attention.

In a 10-minute video posted to social media, Natalie Taylor recalled the devastating moment her sister received her diagnosis. “I remember we were out in a public place, and she got a phone call from the nurse about her biopsy results,” Natalie said. “And she was like, ‘You have cancer.’ I remember just breaking down in utter shock.” The diagnosis came in 2022, just one year after the group achieved viral fame.

From Viral Success to Stage Four

The Taylor sisters began their musical journey under the name Red Roots before rebranding as Taylor Red in 2018. They relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, pursuing their country music dreams in the genre’s heartland. Their breakthrough arrived in 2021 when their song “Country Money” went viral on social media, bringing the trio widespread recognition and a growing fanbase across digital platforms.

Nicole Taylor received her stage three breast cancer diagnosis in 2022, interrupting the group’s rising momentum. “If you know anybody with cancer, there’s so many MRIs, scans, treatments, appointments that you have to go through, and it’s very stressful,” Nika Taylor explained in the video announcement. Despite treatment efforts, Nicole’s cancer eventually progressed to stage four. The sisters confirmed that Nicole found peace before her death, offering them comfort during an impossible time.

A Musical Legacy

The Taylor triplets spent 16 years making music together, from their 2010 start in Mississippi through their Nashville years. Their story represents both the promise of social media-era success and the fragility of life. Natalie Taylor emphasized her sister’s final state of mind: “Nicole told us soon before she passed that she had peace, and we are really thankful for that.” The surviving sisters now face the challenge of continuing without the third voice that defined their sound and family harmony for over a decade.
