Burger King STARTS Beef With McDonald’s

Burger King President Tom Curtis delivered a pointed response to McDonald’s CEO after critics mocked the Golden Arches executive for taking a timid bite of his company’s new burger in a promotional video that went viral for all the wrong reasons.

McDonald’s CEO Faces Online Mockery

McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski appeared uncomfortable while sampling the company’s new Big Arch burger in a taste test video released March 12, 2026, coinciding with the product’s national rollout. Despite claiming he loved the product, viewers quickly noticed his reluctance. One commenter asked why he looked scared to bite the burger, while another observed his demeanor suggested he preferred kale salads instead. The awkward promotional moment became an unexpected opportunity for competitors.

Burger King President Takes Massive Bite

Burger King responded days later with a TikTok video captioned simply, “Thought we’d replay this,” showing Curtis confidently taking a substantial bite of the chain’s newly improved Whopper. The timing proved strategic, as Burger King had released its upgraded signature sandwich just days before McDonald’s Big Arch launch. Commenters praised Curtis, with one writing that McDonald’s CEO could never match that bite size, while another declared it a proper demonstration compared to the competition’s effort.

Major Menu Upgrades Drive Competition

The dueling videos highlight genuine product competition between the chains. McDonald’s 14-ounce Big Arch features two quarter-pound beef patties, three slices of white cheddar cheese, crispy and raw onions, lettuce, pickles, and a new tangy Big Arch Sauce. Burger King’s improved Whopper maintains traditional ingredients but debuts a premium bun, upgraded mayonnaise, and new packaging that replaces the paper wrapper previously known for crushing the burger.

First Whopper Changes in Decade

Curtis explained the improvements represent the first modifications to Burger King’s signature item in ten years. The company focused on strengthening operations and modernizing restaurants before elevating core menu offerings. Curtis emphasized they avoided reinventing the iconic Whopper, instead making targeted improvements based on direct customer feedback. The changes signal both chains recognize consumer demand for premium fast food options while competing for market share in an increasingly competitive industry.
