A Florida mother faces child neglect charges after allegedly leaving her four children home alone for three days, including a two-month-old infant, while she took a cruise to the Bahamas. Police discovered the children hiding in a bathroom without food or adult supervision.

North Miami Beach police responded to Nathalie Belizaire’s apartment on September 26 after the infant’s father, Lether Bazile, contacted authorities. He had seen what appeared to be cruise tickets on Belizaire’s social media and grew concerned when he arrived at her residence. Bazile peered through the blinds, saw a television on, and heard children’s voices inside. When officers forced entry, they found all four children ages two months, two years, seven years, and nine years hiding together in the bathroom without any adult present.

Body camera footage captured officers gathering the frightened children and leading them outside to safety. The 29-year-old mother had purchased a three-day ticket aboard the Carnival Conquest, scheduled to depart September 25 and return September 28. Belizaire allegedly told Bazile the children would stay with her grandmother during the trip, but the grandmother confirmed the children never arrived at her home.

Arrest at Port After Cruise Return

Law enforcement coordinated Belizaire’s arrest as she disembarked at PortMiami on Monday. U.S. Customs and Border Protection worked alongside Miami-Dade Sheriff’s deputies and North Miami Beach officers to take her into custody. She faces four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm, one for each child left unattended. During Tuesday’s bond hearing, Judge Mindy Glazer expressed disbelief at the circumstances, stating authorities were grateful nothing worse happened to the children during their three-day ordeal.

Belizaire’s brother told investigators he received a text message at 8:00 p.m. on September 26 from his sister asking him to check on the children. This message arrived the day before her scheduled return, suggesting she may have realized the children were alone. Her attorney stated she denies the allegations, though Judge Glazer responded skeptically, questioning who would leave an infant born just two months earlier without supervision.

Release With Strict Conditions

The court set Belizaire’s bond at ten thousand dollars. She posted bond several hours after her hearing and was released with the strict condition that she maintain no contact with the children. Her arraignment is scheduled for November 26, where she will enter a formal plea to the charges.
