Demands Made During Democratic Event
Margarita Cielo Balbuena stood with top Democratic leaders earlier this week calling for sweeping immigration reform. She requested lawmakers champion changes creating a path to citizenship for individuals present in America for seven years or more. Balbuena also demanded an end to immigration enforcement raids she described as terrorizing Dover, New Jersey. The woman operates a business, owns property, and pays taxes despite her illegal status, according to her statement.

Balbuena spent two months detained at the Elizabeth Detention Center, claiming inhumane treatment during her confinement. She argued that her contributions to the economy, including employing others and raising American-born children and grandchildren, should exempt her from enforcement actions. The detention represented psychological and physical abuse in her view, constituting humiliation through what she characterized as violent arrest procedures.
Fierce Online Backlash Follows
Former Customs and Border Protection commander Gregory Bovino delivered sharp criticism, highlighting that Balbuena required an interpreter after nearly four decades in America. He characterized her demands as displaying arrogance and entitlement, arguing that Democratic immigration policies eliminated assimilation requirements by permitting rapid foreign population growth. The John Birch Society declared that no amnesty or exceptions should exist, insisting all illegal immigrants must leave the country.
Actor Matthew Marsden called for immediate deportation, stating that countries caring about citizens should defend borders by removing such individuals. Popular commentator Brigitte Gabriel argued that citizenship applicants should demonstrate commitment by learning English.
