Woman ATTACKED By 7 Dogs Outside Home

A woman remains in critical condition after being attacked by seven dogs outside a Dade City home on Friday morning, an incident that neighbors say could have been prevented with proper animal care and responsible ownership.

Terrifying Attack Unfolds in Front Yard

The attack occurred around 11 a.m. at 37439 Fiesta Drive in Dade City, where witnesses watched in horror as multiple dogs repeatedly attacked the victim. Lourdes Estrada, who lives next door, immediately called 911 after hearing screams and seeing her neighbor lying face-down on the ground. The homeowner struggled to control his animals as they continued their assault. Emergency crews airlifted the critically injured woman to an area hospital by helicopter, while Pasco County Animal Services took all seven dogs into quarantine.

Estrada described the chaotic scene where the dogs attacked in coordinated groups. The homeowner would pull several dogs away from the victim, only to have others circle around and continue biting. “They were nipping and biting at her,” Estrada told reporters. “He would get a group of them away and then the other group would come around the other side and start biting her.” The witness expressed shock at witnessing such violence, stating she had never seen anything like it before.

Long-Standing Concerns About Property Conditions

Multiple neighbors reported that dozens of dogs have been kept on the property for an extended period. Some residents disclosed they had previously contacted police about concerns regarding the situation. The concentration of so many animals in limited space created conditions that neighbors believe contributed to Friday’s attack. These prior complaints suggest the incident may have been foreseeable to local authorities, though the exact nature and timing of previous reports remain unclear.

Questions About Responsible Pet Ownership

The attack raises fundamental questions about property owners’ responsibilities when keeping multiple animals. Estrada believes proper animal management could have prevented the tragedy. She emphasized that owners with numerous dogs need adequate space and must provide regular exercise to prevent frustration and aggressive behavior. “If you have a lot of dogs, you need to have a bigger property,” she explained. “Let them out more, so they’re not inside all the time frustrated.” The investigation continues as officials examine whether any ordinances or animal welfare laws were violated at the property.

  1. If you ever compiled stats about dog attacks compared to firearm injuries, you might be very surprised……..considering a lot of animal attacks go unreported.

  2. The sad thing is how we say the dogs need to be put down (I don’t disagree) but it’s really the owners fault! There better be some hefty fines and serious monitoring of this guy ever having dogs again!!
