Traffic Stop Escalates to Detention
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department detained Thomas, 45, at 1:50 a.m. Pacific Time on September 21 after deputies pulled over a vehicle in which he was a passenger. According to authorities, Thomas appeared intoxicated and repeatedly exited the vehicle while deputies attempted to conduct a field sobriety test on the driver. His continued interference prevented officers from completing their investigation of the driver, who was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The situation escalated when Thomas allegedly kicked one deputy in the stomach during the detention process. He was held on charges of obstruction and public intoxication before being released the following day at 12 p.m. Pacific Time, according to jail records. Thomas’s legal name is Jonathan Taylor Weiss, authorities confirmed.
Case Awaits Prosecution Decision
No formal charges have been filed against Thomas as of this report. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department confirmed the case will be submitted to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, which will determine whether to pursue prosecution.
