$27 Million Floyd Firm Smells BIGGER Payday…

The same law firm that secured a record $27 million settlement for George Floyd’s family has been hired to pursue civil action against federal immigration enforcement, signaling another expensive taxpayer-funded payout may be coming after a controversial ICE shooting in Minneapolis.

High-Profile Legal Team Takes Federal Case

Chicago-based Romanucci & Blandin announced January 14, 2026, they would represent Renee Nicole Good’s family following her fatal shooting by ICE Agent Jonathan Ross on January 7. The firm, led by Antonio Romanucci, gained national prominence after securing the largest pre-trial civil rights wrongful death settlement in U.S. history for George Floyd’s family. The legal team also won a $10 million settlement for Sonya Massey’s family in 2024 and $3.25 million for Daunte Wright’s family in 2022, establishing a pattern of expensive taxpayer-funded payouts.

Federal Immigration Enforcement Under Attack

The shooting occurred during a legitimate ICE enforcement operation targeting criminal aliens in south Minneapolis. According to the Department of Homeland Security, Good used her vehicle as a weapon, striking Agent Ross and causing internal torso bleeding before he discharged his firearm in self-defense. This represents exactly the type of immigration enforcement that President Trump campaigned on—removing dangerous individuals who pose threats to communities and federal agents alike.

Legal Strategy Mirrors Previous Cases

Romanucci’s approach follows the successful Floyd playbook, emphasizing emotional appeals while pursuing federal accountability under the Federal Tort Claims Act. The attorney criticized overlapping investigations by the FBI, Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, and Minnesota Attorney General as hindering transparency. Unlike typical police shooting cases, FTCA constraints mean no jury trials and significant administrative hurdles, though the firm’s track record suggests confidence in securing another substantial settlement funded by American taxpayers.

Concerns Over Escalating Anti-Law Enforcement Rhetoric

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara warned that escalating rhetoric surrounding the incident risks “another tragedy,” highlighting legitimate concerns about anti-police sentiment fueled by high-profile legal cases. The family’s portrayal of Good as a “poet choosing love” while characterizing federal immigration enforcement as targeting the “best of the best” contradicts ICE’s mission to remove criminal aliens. This narrative mirrors previous cases where emotional appeals overshadowed the circumstances that led to law enforcement using necessary force to protect themselves and the public.

  1. Anyone else find it ‘interesting’ that the photo of mz good being circulated is NOT a current one but from a far earlier time frame. Sorta reminiscent of the photos used to portray saint skittles as an ‘innocent’ yute. Or am I being overly sensitive to manipulation techniques?
