A dangerous social media stunt gone wrong caused a multi-vehicle collision in Boston’s Thomas P. O’Neill Jr. Tunnel, highlighting the growing epidemic of reckless driving for online attention.
Tunnel Crash Unfolds
Video footage captured the moment a white Honda Civic driver attempted to weave through traffic at excessive speed. The driver cut in front of the filming vehicle before misjudging their approach to a white Porsche Macan ahead. While trying to avoid rear-ending the Porsche and swerving around a red vehicle, the Civic driver applied too much steering input to the right, losing control completely.
Carrying excessive speed, the Honda could not correct course quickly enough. The vehicle careened across multiple lanes and slammed directly into the tunnel wall. The collision then caused a chain reaction as the Civic struck a black vehicle in the right lane, pushing that car across to the opposite side of the tunnel.
Aftermath and Investigation
Following the crash, a woman emerged from the Honda’s sunroof, though authorities have not confirmed whether she was the driver or passenger. Traffic conditions were fortunately light at the time, preventing what could have been a catastrophic multi-vehicle pileup involving numerous cars. No information has been released regarding injuries sustained by those involved in the collision.
Rising Trend of Dangerous Driving
This incident represents part of a disturbing national pattern of reckless driving behavior motivated by social media attention. Drivers increasingly treat public highways as personal racetracks, speeding and weaving between lanes while endangering innocent motorists. These so-called “clout chasers” risk lives for online likes and views, creating countless crashes across American roadways. Law enforcement officials hope the clear video evidence will aid their investigation and lead to serious consequences for the responsible driver, including potential license suspension.

Boston needs an ICE bath.
