An 18-year-old college freshman from New York was executed on a Chicago pier early Thursday morning, shot dead by a Venezuelan migrant who faces murder charges in what authorities describe as an execution-style killing near Loyola University’s campus.
Tragic Night on Loyola Beach Pier
Sheridan Gorman, a freshman at Loyola University Chicago from Yorktown Heights in Westchester County, New York, was gunned down at approximately 1:30 a.m. Thursday on the Loyola Beach Pier. The 25-year-old suspect, dressed entirely in black clothing and wearing a black mask, allegedly carried out the execution-style murder. Chicago authorities have taken the Venezuelan migrant into custody on murder charges.
The shooting occurred in the early morning hours when Gorman was on the pier near the university campus. Law enforcement officials characterized the killing as execution-style based on the circumstances and evidence collected at the scene. The suspect’s use of a full black outfit and mask suggests premeditation in the attack.
Family Remembers Beloved Daughter
Gorman’s grieving family released a tribute describing their daughter as deeply loving and vibrant. They wrote in an online obituary that Sheridan served as everyone’s cheerleader, possessing a unique ability to make people feel seen, valued, and believed in. The family emphasized her rare warmth, compassionate spirit, and kindness that made space for everyone she encountered.
A private memorial service for Gorman will take place next Saturday in Yorktown, her hometown. Additionally, the family announced plans for a community vigil open to all who knew the freshman, allowing friends, classmates, and community members to honor her memory. The family’s tribute painted a picture of a young woman full of life, humor, and genuine care for others.
Questions About Campus Safety
The murder raises concerns about student safety near Chicago college campuses and the ongoing challenges cities face with violent crime. The incident occurred on university property in the early morning hours, highlighting vulnerabilities students may face. The suspect’s immigration status has drawn attention to border security policies and their local impact on American communities. As Chicago authorities proceed with prosecution, the Gorman family prepares to lay their daughter to rest while seeking answers about how this tragedy occurred.

I am the father of a daughter and just keep thinking about the police slipping/falling and their gun going off into this slimeball. That would be justice and none of the attorney and courtroom theatrics. And waste of money.
So out of hand now.
I agree with you 100%.
So sad that as I will celebrate my golden anniversary of graduation from my Alma mater, Loyola University of Chicago, May 1976 that the security and safety of students at the Loyola campus has deteriorated to such an extent that it has become an war zone
I used to walk those same piers after a hard day of studying
Democratic Party elected officials are condoning defiance of the US Constitution, Federal law, riots, and other violence, in an attempt to preserve open borders, turning the US into a socialist welfare state, with the support of the liberal media, which will rule along with them. They frequently claim that conservatives want to end democracy and enslave the people. While they condemn assassinations and assassination attempts, their message of hate continues to inspire these crimes and other violence.
1859 all over again , and the same confederate grey Democrat Party, doing the violence! I wonder how much support the US revolutionaries are receiving from Soros, Russia, Iran, Hamas supporters, China, and the cartels?
Not true! And liberal media? Trump owns it all except one!
Chicago has a sanctuary policy for Illegals. But no protections for others. I hope the family of the deceased sue Chicago for their “sanctuary policies. This is the only way to change this stupid, ignorant policy that hurts the general public.
Lynch mob mentality I see before the details are known.
This story should read they have arrested a subspect and let a jury deside if he guilty or not .
I totally agree with you.
Agreed!
