Florida Man HACKS Sister — Baby Covered in Blood

A Florida man faces life in prison after allegedly attacking his sister with a machete while her one-year-old daughter slept just feet away, leaving the toddler covered in her mother’s blood in a brutal Monday morning assault that has shocked the Margate community.

Savage Attack Leaves Woman Fighting For Life

The attack unfolded early Monday in Margate, located approximately 40 miles north of Miami. According to the arrest report, the suspect inflicted a 10-inch wound that penetrated his sister’s right thigh, reaching nearly to the bone. The victim also suffered a four-inch gash on the back of her right hand, with injuries so severe she nearly lost several fingers in the assault.

The woman’s one-year-old daughter remained uninjured during the attack but was discovered covered in her mother’s blood. Investigators have not yet determined what motivated the brutal assault, which occurred while the toddler slept nearby. The victim managed to escape the residence and ran to a neighbor’s home, where her desperate pleas for help were captured on police bodycam footage.

Desperate Escape And Police Response

Neighbor Luis Pereria described the harrowing scene to local media. The wounded woman ran into the street before reaching his front door, begging for assistance. According to the police report, she screamed that her brother was attempting to kill her as investigators arrived on scene. Officers discovered blood spatter both outside and throughout the home during their investigation.

Law enforcement recovered crucial evidence at the scene, including a machete sheath found in the kitchen. The weapon itself, bearing red smudges consistent with blood, was discovered hidden underneath a bed. The physical evidence corroborated the victim’s account of the violent encounter that nearly claimed her life and traumatized her infant daughter.

Legal Proceedings And Potential Consequences

Authorities arrested the suspect later Monday. He appeared in court Tuesday wearing beige prison overalls and handcuffs, facing charges of attempted felony murder, aggravated child abuse, and a probation violation. The aggravated child abuse charge stems from the attack occurring in the presence of the victim’s one-year-old daughter, who witnessed the violence against her mother.

If convicted on all charges, the defendant could receive a life sentence in prison. The probation violation charge indicates he was already under court supervision when the alleged attack occurred, raising questions about monitoring and public safety protocols. Prosecutors will likely emphasize the premeditated nature of the assault and the extreme danger posed to both the victim and her infant daughter in seeking maximum penalties.
