Over 50 teenagers face criminal charges after a violent brawl erupted on Hersheypark’s opening day, forcing terrified families to shield their children and hide under tables as chaos consumed the Pennsylvania amusement park.

Two Groups Clash Near Family Coaster

Security footage captured two distinct groups arguing in one section of the park at 6:51 p.m. on opening day, just over an hour before closing time. The verbal confrontation quickly escalated into a full-scale physical brawl near the Trailblazer coaster, a family-friendly ride. Police arrived to assist park security in breaking up the melee involving an estimated 50 to 60 teenagers. The violence forced park staff to issue an emergency shutdown of the nearby Skyrush ride.

Officers separated the dueling groups, but the conflict was far from over. The teenagers regrouped at a food court, where the fighting resumed. Families scrambled for safety, diving under tables and fleeing the area as the second wave of violence unfolded. Court documents revealed witnesses described scenes of panic as parents desperately tried to protect their children from the escalating disorder.

Expelled Teens Return Through Main Gate

Park security and police expelled some fighting teenagers through a side gate, but the juveniles circumvented security measures by re-entering through the main gate. Around 7:30 p.m., another fight broke out, demonstrating the group’s determination to continue the disturbance. The repeated breaches exposed security vulnerabilities at the Pennsylvania theme park, which was celebrating its 120th season opening.

Following an investigation, officials filed charges ranging from simple assault and disorderly conduct to aggravated assault, riot, conspiracy, and theft. Three adults were publicly identified: Omar Ibrahim, 19, Jerome Ross III, 18, and Quaneek Williams, 18, all from Harrisburg. Williams faces felony riot charges, assault, and failure to disperse. Ibrahim and Ross were charged with theft after allegedly stealing an admittance wristband from a minor valued at $90.80. All three received summonses with first court appearances scheduled for July 7.

No Chaperone Policy Raises Questions

Hersheypark currently operates without a chaperone policy requiring adult supervision for minors. This stands in contrast to several Six Flags locations that recently enacted strict age restrictions requiring guests 17 and younger to be accompanied by someone at least 21 years old after 4:00 p.m. The new policies at competing parks were implemented to combat rampant disturbances from younger visitors. The Hersheypark incident raises questions about whether similar restrictions might be necessary to prevent future mass disruptions and ensure family safety at the historic Pennsylvania attraction.
