Knife Suspect GOES DOOR TO DOOR SWINGING BLADE

A knife-wielding man created panic in a Sacramento neighborhood Thursday night, caught on multiple doorbell cameras making stabbing motions at residents’ front doors while deputies searched unsuccessfully for the suspect who remains at large.

Terrifying Assault Captured on Camera

Rebecca Breen and her husband received alerts on their Ring doorbell camera around 8:30 p.m. Thursday at their Arden-area home. Moments later, loud pounding at their door revealed chilling footage of a man brandishing a knife and repeatedly making stabbing motions toward their entrance. The couple immediately called 911 as the suspect continued his threatening display. Multiple neighbors throughout the community reported similar encounters with the armed prowler, creating widespread fear across the residential area.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Lt. Amar Gandhi confirmed deputies responded within minutes of receiving frantic calls from multiple residents. Authorities deployed a helicopter to search the neighborhood, but the suspect had already fled the scene. Gandhi praised residents for their smart response, noting that people locked their doors, stayed inside, and immediately contacted law enforcement. Despite the threatening behavior, no injuries were reported during the incident.

Community Response and Frustration

Breen told reporters she believes her family was randomly targeted rather than specifically chosen. She expressed concern that if the man did not succeed at her home, he would likely target someone else in the community. Several neighbors reported frustration with both private security services that failed to respond and delays in law enforcement communication after the incident. The Ring camera footage clearly shows the disturbed individual behaving erratically with the weapon.

Ongoing Investigation

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office continues searching for the suspect, who remains unidentified and at large. Gandhi described the situation as extremely dangerous, noting the man was literally thrashing on doors with knives in a clearly unstable mental state. The incident highlights both the value of home security technology in documenting criminal activity and the challenges law enforcement faces when suspects flee before officers arrive. Residents remain on alert as the investigation continues.

  1. YES, EXCELLENT RESPONSE FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD…TO BE ON THEIR GUARD, ALERT, AND AWARE OF THE POSSIBLE DANGER HE POSED TO THEM. HIS MENTAL STATUS WAS DEFINATELY ANYTHING BUT “NORMAL”… He looked like he had gone insane and would slice up anyone he encountered…More than likely he needs to be in an institution for the insane…
Always better to be SAFE than SORRY in any situation. Lock doors and windows and have on your security system (if you have one in your house) … It’s good that no one was harmed. It’s doubtful he will go back to that neighborhood, but very possible that he will seek out others to frighten and harm if the opportunity presents itself…

    • Wonda, I agree with you 100% that this man lookes like he is not in his right mind and should be in a mental institution but, don’t forget that this is in California, and some judge will probably find him not guilty and let him go with a slap on the wrist. So, I’m sure we will see him preform several more time, until he actually harms or kills someone.

  2. No! He definitely does NOT look insance per se. HE LOOKS DEMONIZED!!! That man needs to be taken to an exorcist!! NO kidding!
